I get a lot of question about my videos, so I thought I would write one answer in a central location that hopefully everyone can see. I use a ContourHD (the older 720 model) video camera mounted under my stem with zip ties.

More helmet camera videos, this time from Sunday Worlds.

The last 6 minutes of the Santa Barbara leading up to the Polo Fields sprint. My legs were trashed from Mulholland Challenge yesterday but I felt well enough near the end to start moving up, but I didn’t want to work myself all the way up into contention for the sprint. Sommersby was on my wheel and she said later “I kept waiting for you to go and you never did.” Sorry Sommersby, I’ll owe you one. More videos after the jump.

The videos from last night’s crit practice have all been uploaded to Vimeo. I don’t have any sophisticated video editing software yet, so I did the whole thing, but to spare everyone wading through an hour long video, I broke it into 4 parts. Power and speed recorded with Quarq and Garmin Edge 705, displayed with DashWare.

The first shown above is the final laps. Click on the full article to see the rest of the videos.

I had another go at shooting video of the descent down Painted Cave and Old San Marcos. This time the batteries lasted the whole time, and I aimed the camera correctly. I followed Ed and Michael down, but I had trouble keeping up on the rough upper section and lost them around the caves. They waited for me at the top of OSM and I got them the rest of the way down. It was a little difficult descending quickly with the camera because I had to hold my head relatively still and keep it up for a good view.

Also here is video I shot a few weeks ago at crit practice. As you can see I held on for a few minutes until I started losing the group in the corners and got dropped after I got too tired to keep closing the gap.

This time, rather than hosting these large files myself, I decided to put them on YouTube, also so that no special codecs are required.

I shot video [YouTube] today of the descent down Old San Marcos. Unfortunately the recording only lasted through the second switchback; about 2 minutes in. I processed the video with Deshaker in VritualDub. Here are a few stills:

As an interesting side-note, VirtualDub was written by...
