May 25, 10:43 AM by Steve | Lament On The Death Of My Wheel
Posted in Cycling & Poetry
I wrote this shortly after last year’s Lighthouse Century. I came up with the lines while I was was riding around one evening before the Echelon Meeting, and wrote it down when I got there. The next day a co-worker suggested an alternate ending. I just came across it while cleaning my computer and wanted to share it:
For thousands of miles you were good and true
Until off of the roof of my car you flew
Alas, I neglected to tighten the skewer
But now I have a another wheel that’s newer
At over 70 miles per hour you were hit
Whilst at the top of my lungs, I screamed “oh shit”
