The clavicle (collar bone) is definitely broken. Doc said it is overlapped 4cm, and I need to have surgery to “fix” it. In other news, she looked at my ribs on the xray and said they appear fine.

Wow, that really sucks. Heal up quick!
— John at Sep 28, 09:45 AMcomplete bummer man. feel better and heal up fast!
— aham23 at Sep 28, 01:20 PMMaybe we need to wrap you in bubble wrap before you get onto your bike. Heal quickly!
— Gina at Sep 28, 02:11 PMBeen there and done that, but my doc didn’t recommend surgery. The good news is that they do heal, but as you have probably figured out already, they can be really, really, really uncomfortable. I broke mine at Thanksgiving, started riding spin bikes about the first of January, then got on my bike outside when the weather cleared near the end of February, but you’re a lot younger, probably a lot more motivated to ride, and in a warmer climate, so I’m betting you won’t be down for long.
— Tracy Wilkins at Sep 29, 08:27 AMIf I see you riding a bike within the next month I’m going to throw a frame pump in your spokes. Get well, and don’t ride your bike until you’re healed. Your nine lives are almost all gone.
— Seth at Sep 30, 09:46 AMDon’t worry, I won’t be riding for a while, at least not outside for several weeks anyway. Surgery is set for Friday…
— Steve at Sep 30, 03:06 PMSucks. My collar bone is shaped like a Z from a moto crash and the other one has a plate. The good news is the plated one heals much faster.
— Josh Rennie at Sep 30, 04:56 PMHow is the bike? That is the real question.
— Jon at Sep 30, 06:56 PMBike appears to be fine. After the crash I checked it out and was all set to get going again when I realized that I couldn’t put any weight on my arms. Felt around and the huge lump confirmed it.
— Steve at Oct 2, 03:36 PMBummer, hope you get well soon, maybe I can finally attack and get ahead for a change…
— Derek at Oct 2, 09:22 PMI was back on the bike 3 days after surgery. 10 screws 1 plate and 2 pins later. The hardest part for me was the 3 broken ribs :) ****Pain is weakness leaving the body!!
